About

Welcome to the Houston MUN Diplomacy Summit, an event for a gathering of young minds and future diplomats. Hosted by three schools, this conference is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding of diplomacy and international relations.

Our mission is to provide a platform where students and educators can share their Model United Nations (MUN) knowledge, engage with global issues, and connect with like-minded individuals. At the heart of the Houston MUN Diplomacy Summit is the belief that diplomacy plays a pivotal role in addressing the world's most pressing challenges.

We hope to create a more interconnected community by bringing together students from diverse backgrounds and fostering an environment of open dialogue and collaboration. The conference serves as a foundation for international diplomacy, instilling in participants the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective global leaders.

Through stimulating debates, interactive workshops, and engaging with diplomats, we aim to empower our attendees to confront the complex issues facing our world. The Houston MUN Diplomacy Summit is your opportunity to dive deep into the realm of diplomacy, exchange ideas, and be a part of the global solution. Join us in shaping a future built on diplomacy and cooperation.

What we offer:

01

An informative panel filled with experienced professionals in the field of diplomacy.

The SWAC (Student World Affairs Council) at The Village School extends invitations to keynote speakers with notable experience in diplomacy, aiming to inspire students. Subsequently, students are afforded the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session with these speakers.

02

A rigorous MUN conference experience.

03

Individuals possessing prior Model United Nations (MUN) experience are strongly encouraged to participate in committees specifically crafted to replicate authentic UN conferences. By engaging with pertinent global issues, delegates will enhance their comprehension of pressing international matters and refine their skills in public speaking.

Workshops with all the MUN basics you need.

Newcomers to Model United Nations (MUN) are encouraged to enroll in workshops facilitated by seasoned and proficient delegates. Participants will acquire fundamental knowledge through our "MUN 101" course, designed to deliver essential information in an engaging and streamlined manner.

Kari Sparrock
Awty Secretary General

I’m Kari, a senior at the Awty International School. I joined MUN in 10th grade to challenge my fear of public speaking and gain a deeper understanding of global issues, but it quickly developed into so much more than that. Now, as co-president of my school’s MUN club, I’m passionate about helping others find their voice and engage in meaningful debate. Having lived abroad for most of my life, I’ve experienced the power of diverse perspectives and I can’t wait to see the range of ideas and solutions that you all bring to this year’s Diplomacy Summit!

Noor Qureshi
Awty Secretary General

My name is Noor, and I am a senior at the Awty International School! I started my Model United Nations journey in fourth grade when I joined Montessori Model UN, and since then I have been inspired to understand global affairs. Now, I am co-president of MUN at my school and chair the Montessori MUN conferences that once sparked my interest. I hope to share my MUN knowledge and experiences with you at this year's Diplomacy Summit!

Eddie Wang
VHS Secretary General

Hey everyone! My name is Eddie (Ruodi) Wang and I am a current junior serving as Village High School MUN’s Secretary General. I have participated in Model UN since 9th grade and it has helped me discover my passion in creating spaces to foster international knowledge, collaboration, and dialogue. It is my goal to offer other students the same opportunities to develop their knowledge and passion as I have been so fortunate to receive. Delegates, I hope that you’ll have fun, learn, and grow at this summit. Most importantly - keep those placards high!

Avilash Jayakumar
BISH Secretary General

I’m Avilash, currently a grade 11 student at the British International School of Houston and someone passionate about advocacy and change-making! I have done Model United Nations since 7th grade and I’ve never stopped enjoying a moment of it! I am currently serving in a leadership capacity in my school’s MUN Secretariat, hoping to provide these same experiences to many other passionate global citizens in the diverse Greater Houston Area. I look forward to creating memories that will last a lifetime through our collaborative Houston MUN Diplomacy Summit and BISHMUN 2024!
